SANDALMAKING KIT - RUBBER SOLES

$200.00

This kit has everything you need to make a pair of unique and long-lasting leather sandals. All the tools, materials, patterns and instructions. And you pick the colors!

Some of these items can be tricky to source or to buy in small quantities so its been a dream of mine to assemble a kit for the sandal and shoe-curious to use at home! This kit comes with several mix-n-match patterns to choose from which you can use as-is. Another great choice is to use the patterns as starting points to create your own original designs. The leather pieces included are large and you cut out your shapes so you can make them as specialized as you want! It usually takes about 5-6hrs to make this pair of sandals.

Includes:

  • Heavy footbed leather (you tell me the size)

  • Medium weight leather for upper straps (approx 2sq feet)

  • EVA foam-rubber outsoles (you tell me this size)

  • Round leather laces (about 60")

  • 2 screw-back studs w instructions

  • Leather hole punch

  • Scratch Awl

  • Utility knife w blade (refillable)

  • Shoe glue

  • Instruction booklet

  • link to 1-hr instructional video

  • 3 pages of patterns to use as starting-points

  • Erasable leather pen

Does not include: Paper (for making variations on patterns), Scissors (for cutting paper- any will do but short, sharp scissors are best), Tape (I like plain masking tape to secure the straps while adjusting fit), Hammer!

Also does not include: An electric table-sander to smooth the edges of the finished sandals. This can be ok because A) it IS possible to get a smooth edge by just using the sharp knife blade-- if that dosn’t go as well as you’d like, then B) bring your sandals to a local cobbler and ask to have the edges cleaned up. This may cost ~$20 and will establish a nice bond between you and your cobbler. lastly, C) buy (or borrow) a table-top belt-sander for approx $100 and make sandals forever!

++a pop up window will ask what colors you want to work with:

FOOTBEDS: natural veg tan, black, dark brown, medium brown, cobalt blue, periwinkle blue, red, orange, white

UPPERS: Dark Brown, Black, Royal Blue, Medium Brown, Rust, Natural Veg Tan, Baby Blue, Grey, Burgundy, Marine Blue, Olive, Black Suede

RUBBER SOLING COLOR: sand, black, brown, red, blue, grey, white
